Did you know that most dental plans run on a 12-month calendar? This means that your dental benefits are eligible for use between January 1st and December 31st, which is only a few weeks away. Even for those who understand their dental benefits, many procrastinate coming to the dentist to use the benefits that they’ve paid for. When dental benefits go unused, they do not rollover to the next year. Instead, they go back to the dental insurance provider. Most of our patients who have dental insurance want to maximize their benefits instead of letting them expire.

Our phone lines have been busy with patients asking when they can come in to utilize their dental benefits before the end of the year. Since we’ve received so many phone calls, we have opened up a few extra appointment times to accommodate our patients. What we’ve noticed in previous years is that patients wait to call until the last few weeks of the year, and they find that the schedule is already full.
